Privacy Policy
How Run Wellington handles your information. Short version: we collect your email for the newsletter, and that's it.
Effective date: 19 April 2026
Who we are
Run Wellington is a community platform for runners across Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, New Zealand. We publish route guides, club information, coaching profiles, and running news at runwellington.com.
Run Wellington is operated by the Run Wellington team. For privacy questions, contact us at hello@runwellington.com.
What we collect - and what we don't
We collect one thing: your email address, if you choose to subscribe to the Run Wellington newsletter.
We do not collect:
- Names, physical addresses, or phone numbers
- Account registrations or passwords
- Payment information
- Location data
- Browsing behaviour or device identifiers
The site does not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics, or behavioural profiling cookies. There are no tracking pixels. We use no tools that follow you around the web.
Why we collect your email
Solely to send you the Run Wellington newsletter: route updates, club news, events, and community stories from across the Wellington running scene. We don't use it for anything else.
How we store it - our data processor
Subscriber email addresses are stored and managed through MailerLite, a third-party email platform. MailerLite acts as a data processor on our behalf - meaning they hold the data, but only under our instruction to send the newsletter.
MailerLite's own privacy policy is available at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
We do not grant MailerLite (or any other party) permission to use your email address for their own marketing or to share it with others.
Who we share your information with
Nobody. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your email address with any third party. MailerLite processes it on our behalf as described above - that is the full extent of data sharing.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address on the subscriber list until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link. You can also request removal by emailing hello@runwellington.com.
On unsubscribe, your address is removed from the active list. Residual records in MailerLite's system are deleted within 30 days of request.
Cookies
runwellington.com does not use tracking cookies or analytics cookies. The Members Hub uses a single client-side cookie (rwm_session) to remember your verified email address after you complete MailerLite email verification. This cookie is stored in your browser only, is not used to track you across sites, and is not shared with advertisers or third parties.
Your rights under the NZ Privacy Act 2020
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any information that is inaccurate or out of date
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Know why we collect it and how we use it (this policy)
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@runwellington.com. We will respond within 20 working days, as required by the Act.
If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Data deletion requests
To have your email address removed from our systems, either use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, or email hello@runwellington.com with the subject line "Delete my data". We'll confirm removal within 5 working days.
Facebook integration
Run Wellington publishes community content to its Facebook page via the Facebook Graph API. This integration is used to post content to the Run Wellington page only. It does not collect data from people who interact with the page - we do not access comments, follower data, or user profiles. Page insights (aggregate reach/engagement statistics) are used for internal monitoring only and are not shared.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll note the updated effective date at the top of this page and include a note in the next newsletter. We won't reduce your rights without giving you a chance to opt out.
